The heartbeat of every Caffè Nero - making perfect cappuccinos, lattes and espressos whilst creating that classic Nero atmosphere. Baristas receive full training (so no coffee experience is necessary). However, you will need a great attitude, lots of energy and a good level of spoken English (plus a work permit if your require one). It’s a fantastic starting point for your career as over 80% of our Store Managers started out as Baristas.

Our ‘Coffee Warriors’ making sure that every coffee we serve is perfect. As a maestro you are responsible for delivering training in store to all of our new baristas and maintaining the level of coffee knowledge and skills throughout the entire store team.

You’ll have responsibility for running great shifts and will work closely with the Store Manager to achieve the store’s success. Motivating the team, ensuring great customer service and helping maintain our brand standards are the key focuses. These are also the first steps towards a Store Manager career.

Our comprehensive three month programme will give you the skills and experience to move from Assistant Manager to Store Manager. There are a series of workshops delivered at one of our training centres along with on the job development led by you and supported by your Store Manager, Area Manager and the training team. Once you have successfully completed the MIT programme you’ll have the opportunity to apply for Store Manager vacancies (and our growth plans means we have a lot of opportunities).

The majority of our Store Managers are recruited from within our business, however, if you have a minimum of 1 year’s managerial experience in a customer focused brand or are a successful Assistant Manager awaiting your next step then please contact us. With full responsibility for the Store, including people development, brand delivery and financial success, the role is challenging, exciting and diverse. Salaries start at £18,000 plus bonus and rise according to your ability and performance. We offer a comprehensive training programme and ongoing development.

By invitation only, we also ask a number of our experienced Store Managers to spend time with our Board Directors as Club Champions to provide feedback on how Caffè Nero can improve. Plus, you get taken out for a nice dinner to say thank you for your involvement.

Another programme we run, Emerging Star Managers, is for our newer managers who we believe have the potential for great things in the future. You would have regular meetings with your Regional Manager as well as dinner and drinks so that you get to know each other better.

This accolade is awarded to our Store Managers that consistently deliver great results in all the key areas of their business (people, brand, sales and profit). In return for your great performance you will receive an enhanced bonus plus ongoing management development.

Our Super League Stores are our busiest stores and they need the best of the best to manage them, so we ask our strongest managers to run these businesses. Larger sales mean larger teams and the opportunity to earn a larger bonus.

Becoming an Area Manager is more than just being a great Store Manager. You will need to demonstrate the potential to make the leap from single-site to multi-site management. Show us this and we will provide the training, development and support that you’ll need. Not for the faint hearted, our Area Managers typically look after between 10 and 12 stores and must ensure that they consistently deliver the Caffè Nero brand to our millions of customers, day in and day out. Being people focused is essential in this role.

We aim to fill as many of our Area Manager roles from within the business. From time to time we will recruit people from outside so if you have some multi-site experience or are at the top of your game in a busy single-site operation we would love to hear from you.
