Whether it is remembering your favourite drink, greeting you with a smile before you have even reached the counter, or noticing when you might need a little extra kindness, they turn ordinary coffee moments into something truly special. These small, thoughtful interactions often become part of people’s daily routines and sometimes even the highlight of their day.
That is what the Nero Stars programme is all about, celebrating the baristas who go above and beyond every single day.
Recognition That Comes From You
Once a year, customers have the opportunity to register for a special Nero Star token, something they can give to a barista who has truly made a difference to them.
It could be the barista who remembers your order before you even say a word. The one who notices you have had a tough morning and takes a moment to check in. Or the one whose energy, humour, and warmth transform a simple coffee stop into something you genuinely look forward to. These are the moments that stay with customers long after the coffee is finished, and they deserve to be recognised.
Going Beyond the Everyday
Our baristas craft great coffee and offer a warm welcome each and every day. But sometimes, they go even further.
It might be taking a little extra time with a customer who needs it, offering a thoughtful gesture that lifts someone’s spirits, or showing real pride and care in making every cup just right. Often, it is the smallest things, a kind word, a genuine smile, or a moment of patience, that leave the biggest impression. These are the moments that truly make a difference, and they are the ones we want to shine a light on.
When You Recognise a Star, We Celebrate Them
When one of our baristas receives a Nero Star from a customer, it is a big deal to us, and we make sure it feels that way.
We take the time to celebrate them properly with their team around them. It is a moment of pride not just for the individual, but for everyone they work alongside. It gives us a chance to pause, reflect, and recognise the effort, care, and heart they bring to their role every day. Because behind every great store is a team of people who genuinely care about what they do.

How to Take Part This Year
This year, Nero Stars registration day is 26th March.
Customers can visit the Nero Stars website to sign up, and 500 participants will be randomly selected to receive a token in the post. Once you have yours, keep it safe until the right moment, then give it personally to the barista who has made a real difference to you.
When a token is awarded, we make a proper celebration of that barista, recognising them across the team and making sure their achievement truly shines.
